About Kathy
Kathryn Schnarr Kinney is a young New York City woman who has been courageously battling ALS for the last several years. Kathy was born and raised in Flushing, N.Y. She currently resides in Floral Park, N.Y. with her husband Chris Kinney and their three dogs. Kathy was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2004, at the age of 33. Prior to the debilitating effects of ALS, she was excelling in her career as a computer information specialist with the NYC Housing Authority. She also enjoyed a healthy love of the outdoors. In her free time she liked to jog, water ski, sky dive and play softball with her friends.
Currently, even simple tasks like walking, bathing and getting dressed are impossible without the assistance of her loving husband Chris, or her devoted mother, Lorraine. Fortunately, ALS has not taken away Kathy’s inner strength or determination. Her smile can still light up a room and her laugh can make you laugh for days. It is in the spirit of Kathy that her family and friends decided to form the KSK foundation.
