The Kathryn Schnarr Kinney Foundation

The KSK Foundation is a small, not for profit organization that benefits people afflicted with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. The foundation is named in honor of Kathryn Schnarr Kinney, a young, New York woman who is afflicted with ALS. The foundation was created by Kathy's close friends and family who want to empower people with Lou Gehrig's Disease to live full and happy lives. Our mission is to improve the overall quality of life for all those who are suffering from ALS.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the motor neurons in the body that control voluntary movement. The muscles begin to waste away, causing increased weakness and impairment. ALS eventually affects the person's ability to walk, talk, swallow and even breathe without intervention. In most cases ALS patients do not experience any cognitive, vision or hearing deficits. Unfortunately, there is no cure and it is fatal. To find out more about ALS, please visit our About ALS page.

The money raised by the KSK Foundation goes directly to those affected by ALS. Our services may include payment towards: therapy, adapting patients homes to accommodate changing physical needs, medication, equipment and approved special requests. Your generosity and interest in the KSK Foundation will help us to reach our goal of improving the quality of life for those with Lou Gehrig's Disease.

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with ALS and is interested in applying for our KSK Foundation Grant please see our KSK Grant page.
